Signal rich art: enabling the vision of ubiquitous computing
نویسنده
چکیده
Advances in networking and mobile computing are converging with digital watermarking technology to realize the vision of Ubiquitous Computing, wherein mobile devices can sense, understand, and interact with their environments. Watermarking is the primary technology for embedding signals in the media, objects, and art constituting our everyday surroundings, and so it is a key component in achieving Signal Rich Art: art that communicates its identity to contextaware devices. However, significant obstacles to integrating watermarking and art remain, specifically questions of incorporating watermarking into the process of creating art. This paper identifies numerous possibilities for research in this arena.

Comparison of Different Targets Used in Augmented Reality Applications in Ubiquitous GIS
Drilling requires accurate information about locations of underground infrastructures or it can cause serious damages. Augmented Reality (AR) as a technology in Ubiquitous GIS (UBIGIS) can be used to visualize underground infrastructures on smartphones. Since smartphone’s sensors do not provide such accuracy, another approaches should be applied. Vision based computer vision systems are well kn...

Despite ten years of extensive research, Weiser’s vision of ubiquitous computing is far from a widespread reality. While research into enabling technologies has progressed significantly, there has been a lack of research into the economic and commercial aspects of ubiquitous computing. In this paper, we investigate techniques that will enable investors in ubiquitous computing infrastructure and...

In the last few years, researchers have embraced human-computer interface designs that include physical user interfaces augmented by computing power. These began with Weisser’s vision of ubiquitous computing and calm technology [8], and continued to notions of pervasive computing [1], tangible user interfaces [6], information appliances [7], ubiquitous media and reactive environments [2], inter...
متن کاملService-oriented Middleware for Ubiquitous Networks
Motivation With the drastic evolution of wireless technologies, software services can become truly ubiquitous, being not solely accessed but also hosted by wirelessly networked portable devices. As a result, legacy applications can become available anytime, anywhere, but also revisited to take full advantage of ubiquitous networking. Further, new application services may emerge, in particular b...
متن کاملFrom Distributed Systems to Ubiquitous Computing – The State of the Art, Trends, and Prospects of Future Networked Systems
We summarize trends in communication paradigms for networked systems, mention wellestablished as well as innovative software infrastructures for distributed systems (such as COM+, CORBA, .NET and Jini), and give an overview of application domains such as grid computing, peer-topeer computing, and mobile agents. We then discuss issues in spontaneous networking, and we explain the vision of Ubiqu...
